The New Corporation
Directed by Joel Bakan, Jennifer Abbott
The New Corporation is about how “good” corporations are bad for democracy. Over the past twenty years, corporations have used charitable work and socially conscious rebranding to position the corporate world as the most qualified to save the climate and help the poor... as long as CEO compensation soars, regulations disappear, and dividends are paid out to shareholders.
The impact campaign of The New Corporation is to give organizing tools to organizers and cede power back to the commons. This is a sequel to the 2003 film The Corporation, which was seen by millions. The campaign for the sequel wants to help each audience member identify a cause they can support, connect them to organizations and encourage engagement in issues and actions.
