Food For the Rest of Us
Directed by Caroline Cox
Food for the Rest of Us is about radical activists around the world using food as a way to resist, survive, and thrive under capitalism and colonialism. From one of the only female kosher butchers in the world, to a Black gardener teaching youth in the inner city, to a Hawaiian farm that reconnects youth to their Indigenous culture, this film uses food to spotlight social ills and the people who use food to fight back.
Food for the Rest of Us will support food activists, community farms and gardens, as well as teach audiences, and youth in underserved communities, how to reclaim their spaces with gardens and other food growing initiatives. The land is a means of production, and capitalism separates people from the land so they are dependent on money to buy food, instead of growing for themselves for sustenance.
